International work
The Citizenship Foundation undertakes international work in citizenship and human rights education in a number of fields including:
- policy advice and consultancy;
- professional development for teachers, teacher educators and advisers;
- resource and curriculum development;
- research and report writing;
- work with young people in youth and community settings;
- participation in international conferences and symposia.
In addition, staff and trustees of the Citizenship Foundation regularly give keynote addresses and deliver workshops at conferences staged by partner organisations overseas.
The Foundation also regularly hosts delegations from overseas and liaises with other UK organisations to support visitor programmes relating to citizenship and human rights education for international guests from a range of countries – from Argentina, Australia, Japan and South Korea to Iran, Palestine, Israel, Iraqi Kurdistan, Uzbekistan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Foundation’s work on citizenship and human rights education outside the UK is undertaken only at the invitation of the recipient, such as a local ministry, foundation or NGO, or via a legitimate intermediary, such as the British Council or Council of Europe, and carried out in a manner appropriate to the local context.
