Economic awareness
Until now, education about economics and finance has focused on economic concepts and personal financial decision making. It tends to have limited social perspectives, restricting people's opportunities to develop a shared vision of the economic future.
We have developed a series of programmes enabling young people to learn about finance and the broader economy, in order to understand how economic decisions impact on society.
Paying for It
Paying for It is a free economic awareness resource encouraging young people across the UK to engage with, and voice their opinion on, the big economic challenges facing the country. The website provides a series of interactive lesson plans designed for 14-16 year olds. Running from January to March each year, Chance to be Chancellor enables young people to take on the role of the Chancellor. Paying for It also includes teacher training and employee volunteering in schools. Paying for It is in partnership with Aviva.
My Money My Rights
My Money My Rights is a new pocket guide offering clear and up to date information on all aspects of money for young people. Distributed nationally to 15 year olds it is accompanied by two lesson plans and is free to download. Developed in partnership with Santandar.
Santander in Schools
Santander in Schools enables Santander's employees to help students in local schools gain a clearer idea about money and personal finance. The programme covers three main areas: Spending and saving, The role of banks, and Earning. Santander's employees use specially designed resources (created by the Citizenship Foundation) to run interactive and engaging classroom-based sessions. The sessions and materials are designed to be used with students aged 13-16.

Make It Our Future
Make It Our Future is a new schools' programme exploring the redevelopment of east London through citizenship. Participating students look at community, regeneration and local democracy to enable them to develop ideas for how the Olympic Park could be used for community benefit. Make It Our Future is in partnership with the Olympic Park Legacy Company and Westfield Stratford City.
