Youth Act training for trainers

Youth Act is a training project for young people aged 11-18 who want to achieve political or social change in their community. It develops skills in advocacy, negotiation, influencing, teamwork, media, communication & conflict resolution.

The national Youth Act programme offers a variety of training packages to suit organisations interested in engaging young people in citizenship, participation, community involvement.

This programme fits with Hear by Right, Every Child Matters, Youth Matters and the ‘Respect' agenda, and can support young people in progressing by signposting local opportunities for citizenship and volunteering activities. It also recognised by a wide number of youth organisations including the National Youth Agency, Children's Rights Alliance for England, British Youth Council and UK Youth Parliament.

After a successful three year pilot in London, and a successful roll out in Stockton, Stoke, Salford, High Peak, Derbyshire Dales and Coventry, Youth Act is now being offered throughout the UK with support from the Cabinet Office.

"The whole Youth Act programme is geared towards promoting real action in the community. I would recommend it."Mandy Ricketts, Connexions
"If any organisation is looking to engage young people, then Youth Act is the one for them. It puts young people in the picture as part of the whole process, it's not patronising."
