Strategic partnerships

The Cabinet Office, through the Office of the Third Sector, leads work across government to support a thriving third sector enabling it to campaign for change, deliver public services, promote social enterprise and strengthen communities.

The third sector is made up of:

  • voluntary and community groups
  • social enterprises
  • charities
  • cooperatives
  • mutuals.

The Citizenship Foundation is proud to be a partner of the Office of the Third Sector. We work towards effective citizenship and cohesive communities.

The Law Society Charity is our longest standing strategic partner, offering support for the essential work that we do. We work together to:

  • keep law-related education in the national curriculum;
  • promote better education about law and justice;
  • build links between legal professionals and young people, and their wider communities.

Grants

Charitable Trusts and Foundations support our work through grants towards core costs and specific projects.

The City Bridge Trust and the City Parochial Foundation are funding the London roll-out of Youth Act: a project supporting groups of young people wanting to achieve change in their school, youth club or community. The Wates Foundation is supporting the development of our innovative resources for young people in Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) and that this group of young people should have citizenship education.

Corporate sponsorship and support

We have a range of corporate partners and sponsors. Here are several examples of how we work together:

  • We worked with Linklaters to develop a twinning scheme linking solicitors to schools in Tower Hamlets to support citizenship. We are delighted that a further 11 firms have joined the project, with Addleshaw Goddard extending the programme to Leeds and Manchester
  • Linklaters supports our essential core costs
  • Deutsche Bank has funded the development of the moneymoneymoney project. This set of brightly illustrated leaflets and supporting web pages provides young people with essential information about the basics of personal finance
  • Aviva is sponsoring Paying For It, an educational innovation to support the teaching of economic aspects of the Citizenship curriculum.
