In February 2013, the Secretary of State for Education published the new draft National Curriculum, for consultation.

Our guide gives an overview of the school curriculum (ie what schools have to deliver). It then sets out what is proposed for the citizenship curriculum and links to citizenship in other curriculum subjects.

It aims to give a clearer understanding of the main implications of the new National Curriculum for citizenship.

The document has three main sections:

Section 1:

Wider school curriculum and cross-cutting aspects;

Section 2:

Citizenship Programme of Study;

Section 3:

Citizenship links in other National Curriculum subjects.

From Clare Gillies - London
David Kerr's document is excellent and very helpful - thank you for such a succinct and clear explanation about the proposed changes and, of concern, the significant things that have disappeared.
