Student-led anti-racist education

Target age:  16-19

A group of sixth form students determined to "do something" active after they were taken by a member of staff to attend the Stephen Lawrence Inquiry when it came to Bradford.

With the support of staff, they organised an Anti-Racist Education conference for young people, youth workers, teachers and anyone interested.

Workshops included:

How to involve students;

Travellers in society;

Using art in anti-racism;

Anti-racist work with young white people;

Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere: why learn about the Holocaust.

There was dance, rap and poetry, rousing speeches and a sense that this was the beginning of something.
